Krill uses standard SMTP protocols to send alarm messages and sensor data reports via Email attachment. Any communication system including Cellular or Satellite that provides Internet access may be used.
If your vessel already has such a system, a single Ethernet port connection is all that is required, with no configuration necessary.
When communication is not available, Krill will continue to collect data and generate sensor data reports. These reports are stored in a queue, and sent out as soon as the Internet connection is restored.
Email messages typically range from 10 to 60 KB per sensor data report, so the data usage on your Internet access is minimal.
