NMEA 2000Connect and Display NMEA 2000 Sensor DataWith the latest version 2.82 of Krill's SoftDisplay, you can now easily monitor data from NMEA 2000 devices located throughout the entire vessel, including engines, J1939 Engine gateways, Weather stations, Compass Heading, GPS, Water Depth / Speed / Temperature and Fuel Flow sensors.
The NMEA 2000 backbone is connected to Krill's Black Box Processor utilizing an N2K Interface kit, which consists of a USB gateway, and all required cabling, power and termination components.
Engine InterfaceEngines that output NMEA 2000 such as Yamaha or Evinrude may be connected directly to the NMEA 2000 bus. All modern electronic Diesel engine manufacturers such as Cummins, Catepillar, Detroit, MAN, etc have industry J1939 CAN bus connections available. These type of engines can be connected to the NMEA 2000 bus through a J1939 Gateway.
User InterfaceOnce an NMEA 2000 sensor has been recognized by SoftDisplay, each one may be individually configured to alter the look and behavior of the gauge displayed on the screen. In the example shown below, the Engine RPM gauge has been configured to display "ENGINE RPM" above the gauge, with a green Nominal RPM Marker shown in the 12 o'clock position. When the engine is operating normally, this will make all the gauges point straight up so that any deviation will instantly be apparent to the casual glance. An alarm will be raised whenever the engine RPM exceeds 2700 RPM.
