Bainbridge Island, WA – Krill Systems Inc., leader in advanced Vessel Fuel Measurement and Monitoring Systems (VFMMS), announces orders for a ‘customized’ Krill Vessel Operations Center (VOC) and eight (8) vessel licenses, from Hydrovias do Brazil S.A.

The Krill VOC system will collect data, analyze and deliver customized reports, in real time, from eight 45.6m pushboats being operated by Hydrovias do Brazil S.A. for their barge operation in the Paraguay-Parana river system in South America, through a wholly owned Uruguay-based subsidiary, Gyrocantex S.A. Their push boat and barge fleet will transport up to 3.2 million tons of ore, annually, from Vale’s mining operation in Corumba, Brazil, down the Paraná-Paraguay waterway for consumption and export.

The Project is expected to deploy 8 convoys in the river system – a distance of over 2,500km, much of it navigating through extremely difficult river sections. In response to the challenging navigational issues to be faced by these vessels, Krill Systems will be supplying data collection and transmission, in real time, of ECDIS information, Depth Soundings, Speed Log, Rate of Swing, AIS and GPS position in addition to engine room information, including Main Engines and Generators Fuel Flow, Tank Levels and Switchboard Sensors.

Krill’s Vessel Operations Center (VOC) collects the databases from each vessel in the fleet and consolidates them into a single ‘VOC’ database. The ‘VOC’ database is continuously synchronized with all vessel databases in the fleet and provides a single overview of all vessel activity, in customizable format, delivered in near-real time, providing fleet managers a powerful tool to make the decisions needed to run a safe and efficient fleet operation.

“Krill was asked for, and will provide, a ‘custom’ software package for these vessels, to help them operate in some very difficult river conditions” says Brian Staton, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing. “One of the main features of the Krill system, that sets Krill apart, is a high level of design flexibility which allows us to respond to almost any requirement for onboard data collection, processing and transmission. An additional advantage is that Krill Systems are available ‘off the shelf’, modular and cost effective”.
